		Koji Morimoto is one of my favorite animators and directors working in the field of “anime”; (essentially just meaning Japanese animation).
		Morimoto is well respected in Japan, but not well known in the U.S., possibly because he has directed mostly shorts and short segments of films rather than feature length animations.
		Morimoto has directed a number of memorable, imaginative and very different short animations.

		Koji Morimoto (森本晃司 Morimoto Kōji, born December 26th, 1959) is an animator and one of Japan's premier anime directors.
		Born in Wakayama, Japan, he graduated from the Osaka School of Design in 1979 and a couple years later joined the studio Annapuru as a grunt animator for the TV series Tomorrow's Joe.
		Since then, Morimoto has focused almost exclusively on his directing work.

		I’ve enjoyed the few bits and pieces that I’ve seen of Morimoto’s work, including the “Magnetic Rose” sequence of MEMORIES and his trippy short film NOISEMAN SOUND INSECT– I should try to see more of his work.
		UPDATE: Joshua Smith writes, “The Koji Morimoto film you linked was not actually done by Morimoto; it is an example of Masaaki Yuasa’s animation from the 1992 Chibi Maruko-chan film My Favorite Song.
