it turns out that wakayama province is just south of kyoto, whereas yamaguchi-ken (home of the naitos) is much further south.
she was able to find uchita on the map, it was just outside of wakayama city, and she thought it might take ~3 hours by train.
In fact the Wakayama website states that the towns in Naga-gun are becoming bedroom communities for Wakayama city.

It was a short walk in a straight line from the station, and, although the front was in a state of being repaired, it has to be one of the most visual impressive temples I've seen yet.
I took the train back to Wakayama, a large station that many lines went through, then checked the boards that list where each train goes...
I checked at Wakayama, but there's was only one, expensive hotel, so I returned to Osaka and found a place there instead.

Initiated by Julie, a Canadian Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) on the JET program, one 2nd-year class of 39 students has participated thus far and another 2nd-year group of 40 is waiting for their letters.
