The Koknese park - Central Daugava - In Nature - Recreation - LVM - Latvijas Valsts Mezi
The park awards a special atmosphere to the city, as it is built over the ruins of Medieval Koknese.
The park preserves evidence of an ancient city from the Hanseatic era, when Koknese was a mighty city on the edge of major trade routes.
The sculpture and the benches around it were produced from trees from the park itself – trees which were coming to the end of their lives.

Repse was driving his Honda CRV late in the evening near the village of Koknese when he hit a 26-year-old man who had been “walking half-naked in the middle of the road,” according to police.
Speaking to reporters the next day, Repse, who heads the right-wing New Era party, described the accident as “unavoidable” since a truck in the opposite lane prevented him from swerving out of the way.
