The abbey of the Dunes (Abdij Ten Duinen) was founded in Koksijde in 1120 as a daughter of the Cistercian abbey of Savigny.
The municipal flag of Koksijde is quartered green with the municipal coat of arms, yellow, white, and blue with a shrimp fisher on his horse, all in yellow.
According to Gemeentewapens in België - Vlaanderen en Brussel, the flag was adopted by the Municipal Council on 3 December 1985 and 4 November 1987, confirmed by the Executive of Flanders on 14 June 1988 and published in the Belgian official gazette on 16 September 1988.
This year the show was postponed untill September 03 and 04, 2005, as the usual date, the first weekend of July, was dedicated to the Defence Days.
The climax on Saturday sported blue, white and red colours in the name of the Patrouille de France, although they had to present their 'adverse weather' flying program due to the hazy skies of Koksijde.
With a blue and a bright sunny skie, Sunday saw the joint flight of a Shooting Star and a Sabre, with the T-33A giving away a beautiful demo pointing out the smoothness and elegance of this airplane.
December 19, 2005, saw the official presentation of the new oncoming movie "Windkracht 10 - Koksijde Rescue" with the pressconference hosted by the 40 Squadron Heli (S.A.R.) at the Koksijde airbase.

The weekend of July the 3rd and 4th saw two Air Shows relatively close to each other; Cambrai and Koksijde.
But before it is that far the season will be flown on some occasions with two Fouga's painted in the once famous Red Devil colorscheme as it flew in way back in the 1960's in the Red Devil Demo Team.
