Kolhapur, July 08: The flood situation in Kolhapur district of western Maharashtra improved today as rains subsided and the Panchganga river flowed two-feet below the danger level, an official said.
The situation in 100 villages in different talukas, including Shiroj, Hathkangala, Panala and Karvir, which were marooned yesterday, improved today as rains subsided and contact was re-established, Deputy Resident Collector Milind Pathak said.
The 400 flood-affected people from Chikli village near Kolhapur city, who had taken shelter in schools and gram panchayat buildings, have still not returned to their homes, Pathak added.
