  Koljivo
One of our many customs in the Church is that of preparing and serving koljivo at the time of a funeral, and whenever a parastos is served in the Church for the departed.
Since that time koljivo, having been connected with celebrating the memory of the Saints, is brought to the Church and blessed during what is known today as the memorial service.
Koljivo was also distributed to the poor as a form of almsgiving.
