		We stayed in mountains huts (Japanese hiking enthusiasts refer to them by their Austrian name, "hutte") at night, hiking to a different hut each day.
		We also visited the cities of Komagane, Matsumoto, Nikko/Lake Chuzenji, and Kamakura, and also spent a total of 3 days in Tokyo.
		When visiting the cities we stayed in traditional Japanese inns (Ryokans) as well as western-style hotels.

	Columban Mission
		My two years in Komagane in Nagano were two years in paradise.
		Located between the central and southern Japanese Alps, the town has magnificent views and has trails that are ideal for running and hiking.
		Although I found it hard to work out the various categories (plastic straws on juice boxes could be burned, but the plastic cover around the straw could not), I was glad that Komagane was addressing responsible rubbish disposal.
