Kon Tum is a major coffee producer in Vietnam.
As a multi-ethnic minority province with 53 per cent of the population being ethnic minority groups including the Xo Dang, Gie Trieng, Brau, Ro Mam, Ba Na, and Gia Rai, Kon Tum province has succeeded in putting an end to a nomadic life and the slash-and-burn method of cultivation.

Fieldwork in Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve, Kon Tum province indicates that the area qualifies as Vietnam’s fourth EBA and warrants protected area status.
The nature reserve would be managed by the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee with the assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
