Kool Moe Dee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mohandas Dewese (born 8 August 1962), better known as Kool Moe Dee, was an American old-school rapper prominent in the late 1980s and early 90s.
It is with The Treacherous Three that Kool Moe Dee performed his freestyle, on stage roast of old school party rapper Busy Bee Starski, a performance frequently cited as a pivotal moment in the development of the battle rap.
Kool Moe Dee also appeared on Will Smith's #1 pop hit "Wild Wild West" from Smith's 1999 motion picture, on which he re-performs the chorus to his 1987 single of the same name.

Kool Moe Dee was born on August 8, 1962/3 as Mohandes Dewese.
Kool Moe Dee kick started his solo career while he was still signed to Sugar Hill with T3, releasing the single "Turn It Up" and lending his writing talents the Sugar Hill Gang's single "The Down Beat" (he also recorded his own version).
LL fired back with "Jack the Ripper." Moe Dee returned with "Let's Go." LL countered with "To The Break of Dawn." And Moe Dee finished up with "Death Blow." Good luck deciding on a clear winner (I think it was LL), but the results are one of the classic battles in hip hop history.

With LL in his latest battle, ironically in the veteran role Kool Moe Dee assumed in their old battle, but with an even younger upstart challenger than LL was to Moe Dee, I have been hearing and reading in some places about how LL apparently won his battle with Kool Moe Dee.
Moe Dee gave the tiniest bit of what he had in store for LL in concert(s), but he saved the full blast for record.
Kool Moe Dee was the winner of this classic Hip Hop battle because LL initially did not respond to, "Let’s Go.’ With a new album on the way, the Hip Hop public was salivating at the idea of LL responding to Moe Dee.

Kool Moe Dee became nationally recognized as a solo artist with his breakthrough album, "How Ya Like Me Now", but in this reviewer's opinion, his most complete album was the largely underrated debut, "I'm Kool Moe Dee".
Moe showcases his skills as a master storyteller on the cuts "Dumb Dick (Richard)", "Little John" and the immortal "Go See The Doctor".
Moe even managed to generate a bit of controversy with the macked out hit, "Do You Know What Time Is"…a song which was often referred to by Hip Hop's detractors who regularly looked to label rap music as, among other things, largely misogynistic.

Moe Dee then released Knowledge is King in 1989 and was the first rapper to perform at the Grammy Awards.
Moe Dee's style was then considered hardcore, but in retrospect, it was hardcore against poverty and violence, but in a positive way.

Its amazin that LL was able to survive Kool Moe Dee, cuz he was saying some vile shyt against LL, on da real.
I think overall KOOL MOE DEE respected L.L and probally did admire him, but just felt that his "ego" had gotten out of control and alot of cats knew that, but NO ONE SAID SHYT, so KOOL MOE DEE took it upon himself to say someting.
Look i can speak from experience, i seen both artists (l.l, kool moe dee) perform during thier "war", and it was simply based on L.L's lack of acknowledgment to the pioneers as someone has stated.

He was full of himself I guess and he is still one of the most charismatic MC's to ever touch a mic.
You know how it is there is always one person in the crowd "you can't beat Moe Dee" and he was like "I don't care who it is, This is Bizzy B, I am the champion, I never lost, I won't lose, I can't lose" he was just on a tear, going for it.

KOOL MOE DEE (Buy CDs by this artist)
Using a stone-cold serious tone that does not encourage disagreement, popular New York rapper Kool Moe Dee (Mohandas Dewese), a former third of the Treacherous Three, puts his positive social messages plus the usual braggadocio to medium-weight rhythm tracks, many of them enhanced by loping synth-bass lines, electronic horns and other musical ingredients.
The versatile vocalist's records earn their mainstream appeal by tempering the music and taking a firm stand against violence and sexual irresponsibility.
