Mr Croser commented, "The Koppamurra Vineyard is one of the two original vineyards in the Wrattonbully region and was established in 1975.
The 1980 Ashbourne Cabernet Sauvignon, made from the Koppamurra fruit is still an intense ripe fruit wine of exquisite balance, finesse and complexity.
Tapanappa acquired the Koppamurra Vineyard prior to the 2003 vintage and has completely restructured the old vines of the vineyard onto new vertical shoot positioned trellis.

The Limestone Coast is the designated region that includes the south east of South Australia.
Koppamurra established in 1973 between Coonawarra and Padthaway.
Later the big companies such as Mildara planted there and used the Koppamurra name to designate the region, a practice objected to by Koppamurra Winery.

Tapanappa has made its first wine from the 29 year-old Koppamurra Vineyard in Wrattonbully adjacent to Coonawarra, which Croser says is a “distinguished site” exhibiting the finest terroir in the area, and from which he expects to make benchmark Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blends.
The Koppamurra Vineyard is capable of doing that’, said Croser.
Only last week, Croser led the annual lecture for the WSET in London, arguing the case for the future role of Australia’s premium wine regions in the global fine wine market in a speech on ‘Brand or Authenticity’.

Croser and Cazes — this year's and last year's Decanter Men of the Year — have acquired the Koppamurra Vineyard at Joanna in Wrattonbully, next door to Coonawarra.
Croser said it was one of the two original vineyards in the Wrattonbully region, established in 1975.
The partnership is called Tapanappa Wines, with the first release scheduled for 2005.

Last week, Wine Business Insider made note of a rumor of a large winery "kicking tires" at Conn Creek in Napa Valley.

Australian wine icon Brian Croser has formed a grapegrowing and winemaking partnership with French Champagne producer Bollinger and Jean-Michel Cazes, the owner of Bordeaux fifth-growth Château Lynch-Bages.
The venture, which was revealed today, has purchased Koppamurra Vineyard in Wrattonbully, a rapidly growing region near Coonawarra and Padthaway in South Australia.
The new company is called Tapanappa Wines, named after a sandstone formation near Croser's beach house.
