Terrestrial Ecoregions -- Central Korean deciduous forests (PA0413)
The fauna of the lowland regions of the Korean Peninsula is closely related to that of southern Manchuria, central China, and Japan.
Korean ginseng Panax ginseng was once common in the understory of conifer forests throughout the northern part of the Korean Peninsula and Manchuria, and perhaps in the hilly parts of this ecoregion as well.
Thus the remaining Central Korean Deciduous Forest is mostly confined to the mountains and hills that cover an extensive area of the Korean Peninsula.

Terrestrial Ecoregions -- Southern Korea evergreen forests (PA0439)
Evergreen forests at the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula resemble the montane forests that sweep across Asia from Taiwan and southern Japan to the foothills of the Himalaya in Eastern Nepal.
The Korean Peninsula is part of the East Asian monsoonal region and receives abundant summer precipitation with warm, humid conditions.
Although the Korean Peninsula receives some typhoons it is less vulnerable than other parts of East Asia such as Japan, Taiwan, and the eastern coast of China.

This recently released film, videoed and researched by Charlie and Nial Moores, is now available and is aimed to 'promote Korean birdlife and highlight some of the threats to their habitats', and to advertise the company WBKBirding Korea.
You also get some idea of the country, its landscape and the attitude of the Korean people, 'respectful and traditional', and the S Korean government to wildlife (though the Moores tend, perhaps understandably, not to be too critical).

 Birds Korea: 2005 Bird Review
Not listed in Lee, Koo and Park (2000), this species is now known to be relatively numerous in Korean waters, most especially in autumn, with an obvious peak in late October.
This was soon followed by a one or two more very vocal individuals in a different part of the island on May 21st, followed by what was believed, also on plumage details, to have been yet another (incessantly calling) individual on May 22nd and 23rd, when it was very poorly photographed (NM).
In addition, a single flock of 200 “Korean Meadow Bunting” were in the Cheorwon basin on February 24th (NM, RK & EK): this is the largest flock of the species known to Birds Korea.

Tropical Birding tour report Sichuan China April-May 2006
By the end of the day it was hard for us to believe this species had a reputation for shyness as two more pairs were seen well on our continuing journey to Jiuzhaigou.
This is one of China's most special endemics and we were glad to complete the set of pink and mauve warblers (with the White-browed Tit-warblers we had seen several times earlier on the trip).
This came in the form a fantastic pair of enchanting Crested Tit-Warblers that we watched spellbound for some time, as they fed by hanging upside down on snow-sprinkled pine needles, the males subtle purple and blue upperpart colors showing all the while, along with its snow-capped crown.

 Birding at Beidaihe, east China
With the break-up of the Soviet Union, and a more open Russia eager for revenue, Korean, Japanese, and other companies have been quick to offer their help in stripping the Siberian forests.
Their numbers increased, and soon they were streaming overhead in squadrons, or soaring in kettles above the hills and plain.
Oriental Pratincole calls, harsh and urgent, resounded; alerted to them, we scanned the sky in search of their flocks, which might be swirling in the rising air and sometimes went unseen — like white-eyes, they could be hard to find.
