The veteran marxist leaders, Harkishan Singh Surjeet and Jyoti Basu, have been appointed as members of a five-member Commission on Party History, set by the CPI(M) recently.
Surjeet would be the convener of the commission, which also includes senior leader and the former Kerala Chief Minister, E.K. Nayanar, P. Ramachandran and Kortala Satyanarayana.
The decision to set up the commission was in line with the directive given by the party congress held in Hyderabad earlier this year.
