World light heavyweight champion Kosei Inoue dumped Canadian veteran Nicolas Gill with a classic leg throw to grab Japan's fourth judo gold medal of the Sydney Games.
Inoue, who had won all four previous matches by knockout "ippon", and Gill sized up each other cautiously in the first two minutes of the five-minute under-100kg final before both were penalised for inaction.
The Olympic gold added to Inoue's 1998 Asian Games gold medal and his title from this year's prestigious Paris tournament.

Kosei will be able to throw Rickson at will, and I have no doubt he will be able to renraku into groundwork when he chooses.
Inoue won't have a gi to grip so it won't be nearly as easy trying to throw someone who knows how to close the distance like Rickson Gracie without a gi.
Kosei Inoue however is not your average judoka.

inoue is obviously the best in the wolrd at -100 and +100 kilos so, is he the best period and if so do you think he is the best that ever walked in judo?
inoue may not be the best ever but hell the guy only 23/24 years old won his 1st olympics at 20! for being -100 kilo and being that young is saying something.
I mean there has been so many exelent judoka in the past 120 years that it would be impossible to pick the best, i mean there's kimura, yamashita, the other yamashita(the tenth dan) say what you want about him but he was supposedly a vicious fighter.

As a result of his victory however, Inoue, an employee of Sogokeibihosho Security Company, and current world and Olympic champion, was chosen to represent Japan in the Open category at the Asian Games scheduled for Pusan, Korea (Sep-30 to Oct-3, 2002).
