The Kobe Rapid Transit Railway, or Kobe Kosoku Tetsudo, is 7.6 km long, with about 6.6 km of the system constructed underground between 1962 and 1968 by cut-and-cover methods.
Earthquake-induced damage was observed at the Daikai and Nagata Stations of the Kobe Kosoku and at the Shin Nagata, Kamisawa, and Sannomiya Stations of the Municipal Subway.
Between the Daikai and Nagata Stations, 210 reinforced concrete columns were cracked and deformed in the running tunnel.

I found something today that seriously disturbed me.
Sayaka and Miya and I took the train from Baba's station (Shintetsu Nagata) to the cross-town line at Shin-kaichi (Sanyo and Hankyu lines), transferred to a Sanyo local and got out at Kosoku-kobe station (near JR Kobe station and the Harborland shopping area entrance).
We were on our way to the (about 1.5 mile long) Center-gai shopping street (pictured right).
