Medjimurje is a strong trade and communication hub connecting central Europe with Varaždin;, Zagreb, and Karlovac as well as the port of Rijeka, (rijeka=river in Croatian), on the shores of the Adriatic sea, mainly in Kvarner bay.
Kotoriba is proud of the first railway station building in Croatia and one of the first railway tracks connecting it to Čakovec in the westbound direction.

The ceremonial flag is a green gonfalon ending triangualrly with golden fringe with the coat of arms in the middle the name of the community above and an oak branch and a sheaf of wheat below it.

Dankzij de geslaagde kerst-voedselactie in de gemeentelijke supermarkten, de extra hulpgoederen aangeleverd door Super Heine en de giften van de Wilhelminaschool, het Rode Kruis, de passage Brummen en de kinderkledingbeurs in Eerbeek kon er vlak voor de kerstdagen weer een vrachtwagen met hulpgoederen naar de mensen in de omgeving van Srebrenica gebracht worden.
Aansluitend is direct na de kerstdagen een konvooi van vier auto’s met aanhangers naar Kotoriba en Donja Dubrava afgereisd.
Op 29 december werd als eerste Caritas in Kotoriba bezocht.
