		The reason we were going was that Kovacica is famous for folk art, housing the Museum of Naive Art, and the studios of several naive artists (as in folk artists).
		Kovacica is a Slovak enclave in Vojvodina, the most fertile province in Serbia.
		But she was pretty interesting and explained about how Kovacica is one of the last remaining large centres of naive art in the area of the former Yugoslavia, with an impressive total of 27 artists.

		Kovacica is near the capital of Yugoslavia, Belgrade, and it is easily reached by bus or car.
		I belong to the sixth generation of the Babka family, who was born in Kovacica.
		The previous generations succeeded in its maintenance, in making it richer and in passing it onto us, for which we are deeply grateful them.They also taught us how important it is to respect the culture of other nations (Serbs, Hungarians, Romanians, etc.) living in neighboring villages.

	Yugoslav Crisis - A look at people who live the crisis.
		Kovacica, near poisoned Pancevo, was a clean and well ordered village with flowering gardens and wide streets lined with well tended trees at that time.
		Traditionally, a young village woman would be sent, in her beautifully embroidered, wide skirts and traditional head scarf, to a city to work and clean until she was proven to be a valued bread-earner and until she learned all the nuances of home care.
		I don't know what happened to the village of Kovacica, with that area so heavily bombed (I did not think to check before my travel), but I do know that their main source of income is gone, buried in the devastated cities and broken bridges of Northern Yugoslavia.

	Three plants involved in sugar fraud
		Four joint investigations by the European Anti-Fraud Office and Serbian police have established that sugar plants in Pecinci, Kovacica and Sremska Mitrovica were involved in repacking imported sugar for export to EU contraries under trade concessions.
		According to a memorandum of agreement signed by the European investigators and the Serbian police organised crime bureau, the repackaged sugar was then exported from Serbia-Montenegro to EU countries with a false country of origin shown.
		The results of the investigation indicate that trucks carrying sugar for MK Komerc were redirected to Kovacica and then consigned to various companies for a range of sugar deals.

	Government invites bidders for privatization of five sugar plants
		Belgrade, June 28, 2002 - The Serbian Agency for Privatization today issued a public invitation to bidders for 70 percent state-owned capital in five domestic sugar plants, setting August 23, 2002 as the deadline for submitting offers.
		The tender calls for the sale of sugar factories Crvenka in Crvenka, Jedinstvo in Kovacica, Sajkaska in Zabalj, Jugozapadna Backa and Donji Srem in Bac, the Beta news agency reported.
		The deadline for submitting bids is August 23, 2002.
