Kree-Skrull War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Kree-Skrull War, in the fictional Marvel Universe, was a series of conflicts between the Kree Empire of the Greater Magellanic Cloud and the Skrulls of the Andromeda Galaxy that lasted for several million years.
Skrull Empress R'kill and the Kree Supreme Intelligence believed that the war had reached a stalemate and proposed a final resolution through single combat between the Skrull warrior Raksor and the Kree soldier BelDann.
The Kree were outraged, slaughtering the Skrulls and Cotati and seizing the Skrull starship.

The Dire Wraiths central to the plot of Rom were an evil, parasitic magic-using offshoot of the Skrull race, analogous to vampires.
Originally, they were peaceful merchants; however, subsequent to their encounter with the Kree, they were forced to become militaristic and aggressive.

FFPlaza.com Articles: Anatomy of a Skrull
During the Skrull Civil War, Zabyk relesased the Hyper-Wave Bomb, universally freezing all Skrulls into the shape they were in at that time, thinking he would bring a greater unity to the Skrulls.
Skrull meat and milk is completely indistinguishable from those of a cow by conventional methods; and in fact requires close analysis by a scientist already familiar with Skrulls to detect a difference.
Presumably, the Skrull's DNA would be predominant in the resulting offspring and the child would grow up with shape-shifting powers; however, it seems that such cross-breading is difficult and the Skrulls have had to invent special birthing equipment to handle such situations.

The Skrulls took an equal number of Kree and Cotati to a distant planetoid in another galaxy, Earth's moon, and fashioning an artificial atmosphere in which to work, bid the two groups to use their resources to create something of worth of the barren world.

At the beginning of the Kree-Skrull War, the alien Kree stationed themselves in a strategic position between the Kree and Skrull empires, the planet Uranus.
However, although their experiments were extremely successful in creating a strain of humanity with extraordinary and diverse abilities the Kree quickly abandoned their experiment for reasons which are not yet clear.
Intrigued, the Kree decided to experiment on the then-primitive homo sapiens of Earth.

 Cinescape - Home - Editorial
In The Kree-Skrull War, Roy Thomas paints a picture of characters and a comic universe in transition between the Golden Age of simplicity and the Silver Age of `shades of gray.` The focal point for this contrast is Rick Jones, a character whose youthful irresponsibility resulted in the horrible mutation of Bruce Banner.
And at some point a few years ago, So It Is Written, the Avengers saved Earth from annihilation by flying off to the Andromeda Galaxy and taking part in a war between the Kree and the Skrulls.
The clever concept behind The Kree-Skrull War is that Earth is only endangered because it lies in contested space at an equidistant point between the Kree and Skrulls` respective Homeworlds.

After the Kree learned of the Skrull inability to shape-change, Kylor declared war on the Kree empire, and the second Kree/Skrull war began.
History : After the hyper-wave was detonated by the renegade Skrull Zabyk, removing the shape-changing abilities of the Skrulls throughout the universe, combined with the destruction of the Skrull world Tarnax IV (by Galactus), which slew the former empress R'Kll, five Skrulls emerged as the top competitors for the new title of Empress/Emperor.

ian Watson's been reading to his daughter again - On the Kree/Skrull War (spoilers for Avengers #89-97)
This tale was drawn from the Skrull invasions from FF#2 onwards, from the Kree Space Empire’s actions with Sentries and Public Accusers in FF, from the Supreme Intelligence’s manipulations of Captain Marvel, from the Negative Zone tales, from the history of the Inhumans.
This was an era before Star Wars, an era before graphic spaceship battles on TV or videogames; it’s hard to describe now the impact of Adams’ depiction of the Skrull armada heading towards Earth.
He is last seen heroically preventing a Skrull vessel from destroying Earth by nuclear fire and is assumed dead at the end of the epic.

Reviews: Avengers: The Kree-Skrull War TPB
In the early 1970’s, it was decided that two of Marvel’s most notable alien adversary races, the Kree and the Skrulls, had come to the time when they should go war against each other.
Overall, the Kree-Skrull War is a most classic adventure and suspense story, something that even makes the reader think, and it’s warmly recommended for everyone and anyone of all ages.
The villains are all wonderfully written, with clever dialogue to match their counterparts from the good side, and the Skrull monarch having a daughter who does not approve of his wicked ways is one of the best of classic elements to be see here.

The Daily Burn: Retro Reviews #11: Avengers Forever
When Rick Jones is plagued by a mysterious illness somehow connected to the godlike power he briefly wielded in the much-celebrated "Kree/Skrull War" storyline, the Avengers bring Jones to the Moon to consult the Supreme Intelligence (imprisoned there after the events of the more recent "Live Kree or Die!" arc).
Avengers Forever is, at its heart, a celebration of the Avengers and their history, offering numerous homages to "The Kree/Skrull War" and constructing a story from just about every era of the team’s history, from its origin to future stories not yet seen (and in many cases never to be seen).
It’s a big superhero cross-time romp, bringing the team of adventurers all across existence, from the wild west to a war-torn Earth where a Martian invasion renders the few remaining heroes much more vicious than their twentieth century counterparts, and eventually to the end of time itself.

 Who Was Captain Mar-Vell?
Mar-Vell was awarded the Royal Skrull Medal of Valor before his death by General Zedrao in recognition of his bravery, as a token of respect to their enemy.
When Mar-Vell returns he is confronted by Minerva, but before she can consumate her plans (heh), the head of the Kree Science Council, Phae-Dor, takes control of her vessel and uses an energy-manifestation to try and capture Mar-Vell for use by the Kree in the War Of Three Galaxies.
The Supreme Intelligence (or Supremor) was a repository of the sum of all Kree advancement and knowledge, and was almost worshipped as a living god by the rigid, militaristic, and extremely bellicose Kree society.

WellredPress Graphic Novels - The Avengers - The Kree-Skrull War
The story, in brief, is that the star spanning alien races of both the Kree and the Skulls hate each other so much they decide to ultimately wipe each other out, with Earth being a strategic location in the war either to be conquered or destroyed.
Lots of surprises, double-crosses and political maneuvering on both sides of the war add some dimension to the proceedings.
I sometimes question Marvel’s editorial decisions as to what rates a trade paperback reprinting, since it seems so many of them nowadays are recent series, yet so much classic material from the past 40 years has been untapped.

 The Skrull-Kree War!
As the heroes from the forties fade, Rick lashes out across interstellar space, making metal contact with the distant Mar-Vell, causing Skrull and Kree warriors in two galaxies to freeze in their steps, and even revealing the rabble-rousing Craddock on Sol III to be a Skrull agent.
Taking an experimental S.H.I.E.L.D. space vehicle ("Take off before I accidentally see you birds," says Fury), the Avengers head toward the Andromeda Galaxy, where the Skrull home world is located.
On the Kree homeworld, Ronan the Accuser is annoyed to be presented with Rick Jones, whom he recognizes as being one of those beings who defied him and his Sentry on Earth.

Review: The Avengers: The Kree-Skrull War: A Comic Book Classic Returns, by D. K. Latta
Roy Thomas' "Kree-Skrull War" is a mishmash of ideas and influences, veering from hokey and goofy to surprisingly thoughtful and audaciously ambitious, never letting the socio-political ambitions trip up the pulpy adventure.
"The Kree-Skrull War," detailing how the Avengers and Earth become embroiled in a conflict between two warring alien races, was one of those touchstone sagas that fans continued to refer to in letters pages years after it first appeared.
He ruthlessly throws in idea after idea, constantly adding new elements and twists as the various schemes of the Skrulls, the Kree, and the xenophobic Senator weave in and out of each other.

Fans have been clamoring for a collected edition of the Kree/Skrull War for years, and now we're ready to give it to them, complete in one volume, a story so big, so vast, you won't believe it can fit between two covers.
Little do they know that their planet is about to become the final battleground between two alien races in a war that has raged across the cosmos.
Penciler Neal Adams, one of the first recognized superstars of the industry, and still one of its grand masters, produced some of his most atmospheric and challenging artwork, setting a new standard for comic book storytelling.

Comic Book Resources Forums - Avengers TPB - suggestions wanted
The story is basically about a tiff between the Kree and the Shi'ar empires.
I was more of a long time X-reader / DC fan, and while I followed some of the Avenger storylines in the past, I don't have a good grasp on their history.
They use wormhole type stargates to travel, and one is positioned next to our sun, causing it to behave rather erratically.

 Talent Pool 01 - Neal Adams (1998)
This statement claimed Adams found that he didn't want to deal with the awkwardness of manipulating too many characters contained within too many places.
This doubtless reflects a sore spot brought on by ill-use within the big guns of the industry; an uncharacteristic annoyance appears in his tone when he discusses this.
Anecdotal evidence and the sniping statements of corporate mouthpieces may support claims about missed deadlines; and the cancellation of X-Men and Green Lantern/Green Arrow may suggest other problems; but the era in which he worked and standard industry practices suggest that a bad rap invests his name.
