They launched a fleet of warships and robots to slaughter every other species; they were defeated after a long and bloody war and the people of Krikkit were sentenced by galactic judge Judiciary Pag to be sealed within a Slo-Time envelope until the rest of the universe died out naturally.
Somehow a lone Krikkit warship has escaped the envelope and is looking for the three stumps and two bails that will form the Wikkit Gate; this is the key that will unlock the Slo-Time envelope and release the Krikkiters to complete their genocidal mission.
In the wake of the original Krikkit Wars, however, the Slo-Time envelope blocked Hactar's influence and allowed the Krikkiters to return to their peaceful ways.

The Krikkit Wars would be much similar to the war described in Douglas Adams Life, the Universe and Everything (second sequal to The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy for those unlearned).
Note that Krikkit is simply used as a sort of placeholder for whoever decides to take over as the manical xenophobic aliens.
Krikkit would of course have HUGE military forces, and possibly deadly white cricket-loving robots with emotional problems.
