Topic: Kristie Boogert

The Kristie Boogert Internet Site   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-14)
Kristie Boogert, born on 16 December 1973, has been one of the leading tennis players from the Netherlands for several years.
However, you may not realise that Kristie is a past Grand Slam champion - she won the French Open mixed doubles in 1994 with Menno Oosting.
This web-site is intended as a resource for Kristie's fans, and also to attract new fans from the international community of tennis fans - with more people encouraging her, I hope Kristie can do even better on the Tour.

Kristie served the first game, which contained three deuces, and notably it wasn't until the twelfth and final point of this game that she failed to get her first serve in; unfortunately it was a service break against her.
In the final set Kristie immediately lost her serve, and after doing so again to go 1-4 down there was unlikely to be a way back, despite a fine service game to get to 2-5 down.
Kristie was broken again on her next attempt, and Miriam couldn't hold so the first set was gone, 2-6, in a mere 23 minutes.

By now, Kristie's singles ranking had fallen to 101, down from a year-start 66, and she must have been keen to keep playing more tournaments in an effort to avoid allowing her ranking to fall further.
The last week of April was Fed Cup, and there were some lowly opponents which maybe did Kristie some good as she was able to notch up a couple of wins in singles matches at last.
Kristie just failed to make the main draw in singles, in her last event of the year, but was in the doubles with Miriam where they were seeded fourth but unfortunately lost a very close three-setter to Bianka Lamade and Patty Schnyder.

 Justine Henin-Hardenne
Qualifier Kristie Boogert narrowly missed the opportunity to pull off the biggest upset in the Women's Championship since the dismissal of Martina Hingis on Monday when she led the ninth-seeded Justine Henin 7-5 4-1.
Henin had won her two previous matches against Boogert comfortably in straight sets but this time she was driven on to the back foot by the Dutch player's aggression and accuracy.
With Henin still reeling, Boogert broke serve again to lead 3-0 in the second set but once Henin had escaped disaster with that ace the Belgian gradually took control.
