Krynn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The world of Krynn was forged by the god Reorx, who had been asked to by Takhisis, the head god of evil.
The major land mass of Krynn is Ansalon, a continent far to the south and the main setting of the novels.
The continent is surrounded by ocean on the north, east, and west sides, and on the south by the huge mass of Icereach, a frigid and mostly unexplored wasteland.

Champions of Krynn for Commodore 64 - MobyGames
Champions of Krynn is the first of SSI's "gold box" games set in the ADandD world of Dragonlance, with all the usual features: first-person view and movement in dungeons, towns and outposts, overland travel on a map of the area and tactical turn-based combat from a top-down perspective.
As the first game set in Krynn, it has several features unique to that setting: In character races, one can choose from Kender, Silvanesti or Qualinesti Elves and Mountain or Hill Dwarves in addition to humans and half-elves.
Special character classes include Solamnic Knights, clerics of the major deities of Krynn and mages of either the Red or the White Robe.

 A Beginners Guide to Krynn
Thought by many scholars to be the fore-runners of dwarves, or at least related in some way, the gnomes of Krynn are a tunneling race with a compulsive fascination for technology.
There is disagreement amongst scholars of Krynn about whether minotaurs were formed from ogres as a result of the Greystone, or whether they were a seperate species in their own right before then.
If this theory is true, there may be other races on Krynn that share this heritage - the Shadowpeople, with their bat-like characteristics, may be part of the "beast-man" family, as may the Thanoi of Ice-Wall.

Title Champions of Krynn Game Type RPG Company SSI Players 1 Compatibility Most Amigas Submission ronny@tmx.com.au (Ronny Cook) Review Champions of Krynn was one of the earlier "Gold Box" AD&D role playing games from SSI, set in the "Dragonlance" world.
As with the other Gold Box games, Champions of Krynn is at least as much a strategy game as an RPG; the larger encounters require a careful balancing of hit points, available spells and positioning.
This means that passing characters along to the next game in the series (Death Knights of Krynn) actually has a point.

Champions of Krynn for example gives no experience to any character who is knocked unconscious in combat - something that not only violates AD&D rules, but also makes the game unfairly frustrating, especially in the beginning when your party is still weak.
The adventure culminates in a mission to the nether realms to free the archmage Raistlin Majere (one of the most popular characters from the Dragonlance novel series) from his imprisonment in the Abyss.

Champions of Krynn, the latest role-playing epic in the series, has a lot more to offer than the first two, and it keeps the interest level up.

 Mythology of Krynn
The mythology of Krynn has, to me, suffered from the AD&D method of creating gods - simply give each god a sphere of influence, a colour, a symbol and a set of spells and leave it at that.
There is a recorded cosmology for Krynn, but only one, and I like lots of conflicting ideas (the idea that every single culture on Krynn believes that the world started the same way just doesn't seem right to me!)
Before the Cataclysm, Krynn did not have any such events, but it did have a number of early Dragonwars, a time of magical chaos and the changes wrought by the Greystone of Gargath.

 AD&D Deities:  Krynn
Krynn has a pantheon which is carefully balanced between good, neutral, and evil gods.
Only Holy Orders of the Stars may be clerics of these gods, and most Krynn characters will be adherents of these faiths, even among demihumans and humanoids, since these are the only gods permitted to exercise power in the lands of Krynn.
These gods are not designated by greater, lesser, or demigod; however, their clerics receive bonus spells related to the specific god's interests; however, they are not free to use all cleric spells, and are limited instead to specific spheres plus a few additional spells.

Since many of the series often contain books that do not fit with a particular time period, there will be some discrepancies, but the list reflects the best judgment of the Nexus's staff when trying to group all of the novels in a logical and consistent way.
