Wasnt according to STM and the comics, planet Krypton was destroyed, I mean their sin became a red giant and the planet just collapsed into it (similar to what will happen to earth in like 5billion years or so when our sun becomes a red giant).
I beleive a part of krypton is floating in space, and KALEL tracks it down with kryptonian technology with the help of his father...
Perhaps what he was referring to as a "graveyard" was simply a mass of debris that remained in the area of space where Krypton was destroyed- some pieces large enough, perhaps asteroid size or larger that would have remnants or artifacts indicating, if you will, that Krypton once existed on the planet.
