I have previously said that Terri Schindler's death (murder) happened in part as the result of "judicial tyranny" and I posted on the constitutional authority that the Legislative and Executive branches failed to exercise in her defence.
Aside from the political damage to the Bush's, which really is not that important, there is the frightening prospect of having judges making decisions that no one can overturn, not even the Legislature or the Chief Executive, thus Wheeler's use of the term of krytocracy.

If any good is to come of this tragedy it would be to catalyze the recognition among Americans that America is no longer a democracy.

Finally, not to be too pedantic, the proper transliteration of a rule by judges from Greek would kritokrateia or kritocracy, not krytocracy (krites is spelt with an iota, not an upsilon).
I think, Daniel, you have too knee-jerk a reaction to the word "democracy." While I agree that a pure democracy is a form of government to be avoided, nevertheless there are strong democratic elements in our Constitution which were put there for good reason.
