Kuala Kangsar today has spread across the gentle undulating lands along the bank to accommodate the growing community but its core and historical part of town still sits quietly on the high grounds by the bend of the river.
In the old part of Kuala Kangsar however, the roads are narrow and pleasant and great for a stroll as it winds round the grassy knoll.

At dawn on December 19, a battalion of Argyll and Southern Highlanders drove up the mountainous backroad from Kuala Kangsar to Grik with orders to halt the Japanese thrust south.
Although some rafts were detected and sunk, many troops slipped behind British frontlines and by-passed Kuala Kangsar completely, aiming for the key road and rail bridges south of Kuala Kangsar.

They got famous laksa Kuala, apam balik, rojak Kuala, cendol; there are stalls near the river and my dad/mom usually ‘tapau’ those stuff whenever if they come to Kuala.
when you are heading towards the istana at kuala kangsar, there are those government shoplots/food area next to the river.

After an eight hours drive from Kuala Terengganu to Grik and Kuala Kangsar, we still find time to circle Kuala Kangsar little but very majestic and beautiful town for a decent place to eat.
Kuala Kangsar is between Ipoh and Taiping and therefore, the beansprouts are the fattest and juicest, as Ipoh is famous for her beansprouts, claimed to sprouted with spring water from the Tambun hills.
We purposely drove from Grik to Kuala Kangsar and up north again to Penang eventhough it meant we have an additional 60KM to travel compared to Grik to Baling to Penang.

There is a small admission fee charged for visiting this museum and it is well worth it.

A tradition which began in 1959, when Phyabharataraja, Principal of the Vajiravudh College, visited NJ Ryan, the Malay College principal, and invited him with this words, "Let us play rugby together, so that our boys would have the chance to learn about one another's tradition and culture, by playing host on alternate years."
