  Alchemical Kubrick
Kubrick, however, proves that he knows what he is doing at every step and this is the real reason why he is not talking about the film to anyone.
Kubrick has brought the viewer of the film through the four realms of the Tree of Life, all brilliantly evoked in the right pattern with enough intricate knowledge of the Kabbala to give one a long pause for consideration.
Kubrick has combined these many deeply held spiritual traditions and symbols and refashioned them into the monolith, or stone, that is constructed in the same dimensions as the movie screen on which it will be projected.

Kubrick's first UK film was Lolita (1962), which was carefully constructed and guided so as to not offend the censorship boards which at the time had the power to severely damage the commercial success of a film.
Kubrick's third, and final, wife, Christiane Harlan Kubrick, appeared (as Susanne Christian) in Paths Of Glory (1957) before she married him as the only female character (a German singing girl) in the movie.
Kubrick's Vietnam war film Full Metal Jacket (1987), is an even more bitter picture than Paths of Glory less a depiction of history than a blatant disavowal of the human race from an increasingly reclusive artist.

Paths of Glory - Stanley Kubrick had already made his talent known with the outstanding racetrack heist thriller The Killing, but it was the 1957 antiwar masterpiece Paths of Glory that catapulted Kubrick to international acclaim.
Spartacus - Stanley Kubrick was only 31 years old when Kirk Douglas (star of Kubrick's classic Paths of Glory) recruited the young director to pilot this epic saga, in which the rebellious slave Spartacus (played by Douglas) leads a freedom revolt against the decadent Roman Empire.
Kubrick would later disown the film because it was not a personal project--he was merely a director-for-hire--but Spartacus remains one of the best of Hollywood's grand historical epics.

The climatic sequence where the boxer and the john fight to the death in a mannequin factory is an essential sequence in Kubrick’s career, balancing as it does between spontaneous movement and the ‘pose.’ At first the men use the stray mannequins, standing around as impassive spectators, for weapons.
Kubrick has recreated his birth home far from the actual one, and the sense of an artist making his dreams real is unprecedented.
And Kubrick’s other unfinished projects (from a biopic of Napoleon to a WWII drama called The Aryan Papers) remain out there in some form, either to tantalise with their possibilities or to be finished by those who may dare to try.
