Ryoke Sanyo Granite Series in Yanai District   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The Kuga Group (Toyohara, 1977) belongs to the Mino-Tamba zone, it is mainly composed of olistostromes of conglomeratic pelitic rocks (with blocks and lenses of chert, sandstones, rare limestones and basic volcanics), interstratified with hectometric sheets of resedimented banded cherts.
Whereas the limestones and the cherts yield microfossils respectively of Permian and Triassic ages (Toyohara, 1977), the pelitic matrix of the olistostrome is of Lower Jurassic age (Hayasaka and Hara, 1982).
In the same manner as for the Kuga granites, this is interpreted as the superposition of the trend of in situ differentiation of the Kibe granites on the general trend of the series.
