	Kuklen monastery near Plovdiv Bulgaria
		Situated in the heights above the village of Kuklen, to the right of the Plovdiv-Assenovgrad road, the "St. St.
		Kozma and Damian" monastery is famous ever since the reign of Tsar Ivan Alexander mainly for the literary school here; its cultural influence and the waters of the holy spring, curative for mental disorders.
		During the Revival years, the Kuklen song-book kept the consciousness of the Bulgrian people suffering troubles from Plovdiv and Stanimaka.

		In Kuklen, the sample village in the vicinity of the non-ferrous metal works in Bulgaria, ten sample sites were selected and soil and plant samples taken in both 1999 and 2000.

	Kuklen Monastery, Rhodopes, pictures
		The Kuklen Monastery St Vrach (Healer) was one of the biggest cultural centers of Bulgaria in the Middle Ages.
		The monastery was destroyed by the Turks in the 17th century, and after it was restored, it turned into a big literature school, where the hieromonks Sidor, Anani and Krustiu Gramatik created their works of art.
		The most significant among all the preserved documents, created here, is the Kuklen psalm-book Pesnivets, written in 1337 under the will of Tsar Ivan Alexander.

		Founded by dramatic actress Mara Penkova, who in 1946 in association with a group of followers established a theatre venue called Kolektiven kuklen teatar (Collective Puppet Theatre).
		The first production on 21 April 1946 - Tatuncho i Zmeyat (Father and a serpent), followed by Malkata Lilyanka (Little Lilyanka) featuring for the first time the popular Bulgarian characters Hopcho and Tropcho (Hop and Jump).
