Kulin is located in the upper great southern Wheatbelt, the Shire of Kulin covers an area of 4,790 square kilometres.
The Shire of Kulin encompasses the towns of Kulin, Pingaring, Dudinin, Jitarning, and Holt Rock.
The Kulin economy is based on agriculture and was settled by pastoralists in 1905.

Kulin came to prominence in Bosnia 1163 as he was under the Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Comnenus who was just taking the country from the Hungarians earlier, although it would not be until 1180 that he would place Kulin as his vassal as Ban.
Kulin subsequently, on 8 April 1203, organized a congress in Bilino Polje which the Pope's emissaries attended - led by the Pope's legate for the Balkan peninsular, John de Kazemaris; where he officially declared his allegiance to the Roman Catholic Church and declared that he was none other than a true pious Roman Catholic Christian.
The Charter of Kulin is a symbolic birth certificate of Bosnian statehood, as it is the first written document that talks of Bosnian borders (between the rivers of Drina, Sava and Una) and of the elements of the Bosnian state: its ruler, throne and political organization.

Last Week, on November 23, Ayşe Kulin, one of the most popular Turkish writers in recent years, was invited to Bilkent to discuss her latest book with students and staff, through the cooperation of Yeni Ufuklar Kulübü.
At the very beginning of the interview, Kulin talked about her previous jobs, saying that “I am delighted being a writer, rather than being an art director or in the public relations field”.
Kulin believes that every writer inevitably injects some of their own life into their stories: “It is impossible for a writer not to reflect some of his/her life, feelings and ideas into their stories and characters.
