The Hindu : Govt. urged to include names in poem
In a memorandum, the president of the Kannada Shakti Kendra and scholar, M. Chidananda Murthy, has urged the Government to include the names of Madhwacharya and Kumaravyasa in the poem, Jayabharata jananiya tanujaate, and help end the controversy over the nada geete (State song) as there is evidence that Kuvempu himself gave consent to this.
Jayabharata jananiya tanujate was first published in 1930 in the anthology, Kolalu, in which the names of Basaveshwara, Madhwacharya, and Kumaravyasa did not figure.
In 1971, G. Narayana, then president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, first brought the poet's attention to the "omission" of the names of Madhwacharya and Kumaravyasa in the poem.

The packed house audience not only enjoyed the lyrical beauty of Kumaravyasa but also had a chance to experience the wonderful narration, dancing and acting capabilities of the troupe which successfully portrayed Maharathi - Karna, one of the most powerful characters of the great epic Mahabharata through ‘Karnadarsha Prasanga’.
While the new generations seem to be gradually losing interest in Kannada literature, the fate of Kannada verse (poetry) is not any better.
Under these circumstances the effort of this troupe is not only a commendable one, but can be recommended for shows in schools, colleges, clubs and Kannada associations on a regular basis.
