Prince Kuniyoshi was born in (A city in central Japan on southern Honshu; a famous cultural center that was once the capital of Japan) Kyoto, the third son of Prince Kuni Asahiko (Kuni no miya Asahiko Shinnō) and the court lady Isume Makiko.
Prince Kuni graduated from the Military Academy in 1897.
Prince Kuni was an early advocate of military aviation.
