In early 1980s, Komil Yusupov, famous Uzbek Master of Kurash, Ju-Do and Sambo, and also one of the most passionate activists of revival of Kurash, began the research into the heritage of the Uzbek wrestling in a bid to develop and formulate new universal rules of Kurash that would meet international standards.
