Dahle also adds a unique flavor to the band as he plays the organ, guitar and bass.
Kurt Dahle focuses most of his energy on the drums, but adds his vocal fervor to a few songs as Ian Somers delivers a bass sound that is a combination of simplistic pain and splendid melody.

Interview with Kurt Dahle of Limblifter
Limblifter are Ryan Dahle (various instruments, vocals, and main songwriter), Kurt Dahle (drums and vocals), and Ian Somers (bass), and they hail from Vancouver.
Kurt says that when they were in the process of recording, they "never thought it'd end up on the radio" and that one should "just do what you want to do with the music and if you get a good deal, then go for it."
Kurt displayed his affection for the indie scene, saying that "there's a lot of great music out there" and he said that they had been offered to be signed before, but they picked this one was because it was a good deal and it offered them the greater distribution they wanted.

Dahle's gloriously refined songwriting encompasses concise forms and ideas, yet retains the interwoven guitar layers and complex melodies that have made him a memorable, unique, and critically acclaimed voice in the Canadian music industry.
Dahle and his co-producer, John Maclean (Bellaclava) along with engineer Sheldon Zaharko (Billy Talent), decided to minimize the use of modern recording technologies and computers, favouring instead the warm, organic sound of 2" analog tape.
The spirit and musicianship that is Limblifter is once again re-animated, allowing Dahle's incomparable voice to engage listeners to his poetically graphic lyrics and distinct guitar phrasing.

Many of these songs were initially crafted around drum loops, and the technique shows-- Dahle opts for a mechanical, nondescript rhythm section to back his more interesting vocal melodies and arrangements.

Vancouver's pop supergroup, featuring AC Newman, Neko Case, Dan Bejar (from Destroyer), Kurt Dahle (Age of Electric), and about a half-dozen other musicians.
Admittedly, after three albums in the span of five years, it may be time to stop thinking of The New Pornographers as an indie rock supergroup, and judge them against the standards by which traditional bands are judged.
No matter how much AC Newman, Neko Case, Dan Bejar, Kurt Dahle and others may produce on their own, it seems reasonable to expect that, by now, they'll have achieved a level of comfort with each other that many bands, both supergroup and otherwise, are never around long enough to achieve.
