Former UNP strongman Sirisena Cooray yesterday refuted an allegation made in a statement read by former UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Rajitha Senaratne in a TV talk-show as baseless and malicious.It had stated that his wife had held some JVP funds given for safekeeping and a part of those funds was lost.
It is learnt that the assault had taken place after an argument with the suspects who were also taking their lunch at the same hotel.
Kurunegala police by way of a 'B' report sought the permission of the Court again to arrest the suspects on Monday stating that the addresses given by them was incorrect.

Surgeons of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital are threatening to suspend surgery if their requests for more and better facilities to carry out a satisfactory service are not considered by the authorities.
It is revealed that the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has run into a crisis with inadequate facilities to patients according to doctors working at the hospital.
Surgeon Dr. D.G.N. Ratnasena observed that the surgeons and other doctors have continued work in spite of various shortcomings, but the condition is such that they were unable to continue their services further, since in the event of any misadventure the doctors could be held responsible.

However, the intake of cholesterol and cholesterol per 1000 kcal was lowest among subjects in Kurunegala and highest in Colombo, indicating a higher consumption of animal foods.
Although, the proportion of dietary fat derived from coconut was higher among subjects in Kurunegala area than in other areas, it did not have a cholesterol elevating effect, probably because the diet also contained a higher fibre (and related plant component) content.
