Mochi is very sticky; every year after the new year, it is reported in the media how many people die from choking on it.
Kusa mochi is a green variety of mochi flavored with yomogi (mugwort).
Mochi is also the name of a monster type and character in the game and TV series Monster Rancher.

Mochi balls are blobs of rice dough put in soups.
Chinese-style mochi (if what I think it is is the same as what you are trying to make) are great too, I love them just as much.
Mochi is a special sticky rice pounded into a pulp, in my opioion, best served with anko, a sweet red bean, Daifuku (a moichi ball with Anko inside) or oshiruko (a Thinnened anko soup with peices of mochi inside)
