Topic: Kushan Mothership

In the News (Sun 27 Dec 09)

Homeworld - Encyclopedia Hiigara - a Wikia wiki
The ancient Kushan have left their homeworld as exiles and have settled on the desert world Kharak, where over time they would reconstruct their civilization from the ground up, their heritage dwindling into myth and legend.
From the needleship emerge swarms of swarming fighters, all of whom descend upon the Kushan in a frenzy of attack.
Unfortunately for the Kushan a jump is not possible as the Kadeshi mothership is able to project an inhibition field, preventing the Mothership from forming and maintaining a quantum wavefront.

Kushan - Encyclopedia Hiigara - a Wikia wiki
Kushan are mammals, although unlike most mammals, they have only a spare amount of body hair, with males generally having more hair than females.
The Kushan were a powerful empire divided into extended families called Kiithid, centered on the planet of Hiigara before they fell from grace in a war with the Taiidan and were exiled from their world on pain of death.
Thus when the construction of the new mothership, the Pride of Hiigara, was begun at Tanis, Karan was there to oversee the final elements and tests, along with the ancient core that was to be installed within it.

Known simply as the Mothership, this vessel would be part carrier, part survey ship, part factory complex and, most importantly of all, the temporary home for millions of our people frozen in cryogenic sleep.
The Mothership is designed to be a mobile construction yard on par with the original orbital facilities which created the mega-vessel in the first place.
When the Mothership is underway, this pit will be manned permanently by shift teams composed of the best scientists, diplomats, linguists and tactical officers, all specially selected not only for their knowledge, but their adaptability.

 Homeworld Walkthrough - IGN FAQs
The Kushan Mothership has the "door" on the side, which has to be opened and closed every time a Super-Capital Ship goes in or out - and that takes precious time.
But then, of course, the Kushan Mothership is able to produce and salvage Frigates a lot quicker, because almost as soon as the ship leaves the bay, it is ready to roll.
The Kushan Mothership has some bugs, too: it can happen that when a Super- Capital Ship is being captured or is leaving the construction bay, the "door" of the Mothership gets "stuck", and then the ship that's there will be trapped in that position - unusable *FOREVER*.

 Kushan Scout Information
The "Arrow" Light Interceptor (or Scout) is a Kushan Fighter from the computer game Homeworld.
The Arrow was the first military ship design used by the Mothership fleet, unknowing of the dangers which would await them on their journey.
The ship was designed to be a highly maneuverable strike craft using extremely powerful engines, capable of reaching a maximum velocity of 1 kilometer per second (or over 2200 mph) before the use of its its afterburner.

The revelation that the Kushan genetic makeup was highly unlike any other life-form on the planet, and the eventual discovery of a huge alien ship, the Kar Tobe (First City), would lend final proof to this 'exogenesis' hypothesis.
The Kushan (otherwise known as the Hiigarans) eventually managed to unite all but the most extreme clans towards the goal of reaching their previous homeworld and discovering the reasons behind their exile.
After the departure of the Mothership, Karrak was attacked by the Taiidan, a large interstellar empire who now controlled the planet of Hiigara and viciously opposed the exiles' attempt to reclaim their homeworld.

Mothership: It's about as graceful as a orca (or, for Taiidan version, a autistic speech giver), and just as fat.
Since the Mothership tends to attract enemy capital ships like a hick to a broken down car, I keep most of my heavy hitters with her until such time as I need them.
I've found that the times the Mothership has been swarmed with fighters, my interceptors were close enough in hand to act as a mob up squad.

When the Kushan entered the Garden and were able to defeat the Kadeshi attackers, they noticed a prison ship much like the Khar-Toba at the center of the Kadeshi ritual grounds, proof that they were descended from the same original people.

It is a desert planet, and the climate is so inhospitable to Kushan life (which seems essentially human) that they can only live on or near the poles.
When the Kushan violated an ancient treaty signed 4000 years ago with the Taiidan Empire by entering hyperspace, a Taiidan carrier group induced a firestorm on the planet by firing atmosphere deprivation missiles that reduced the poles to charred wastelands.
It is assumed that there were no survivors beyond the crews of the Kushan Mothership and approximately 600,000 cryogenically frozen colonists (whom the player has to rescue from the remnants of the Taiidan fleet).

When she had been extracted from the Mothership’s core, naked and dripping from the thick, pungent fluid of the deprivation tank, the last thing she had remembered was the neural shunts being attached to all of her critical nerve clusters before the journey.
The surgery for the implants alone had required months of recovery time, but the final step had been to attach the connector shunt cables to her implants, one by one in precise order: left foot, right foot, left arm, right arm, at the base of the spine, and finally, at the base of the neck.
I don’t question that extraction from the Mothership has done her some wrong, but the solution is not just to give it to her again.
