This is the Island of Kusu, near Singapore, a tiny wee island surrounded by myth and fable, and water.
Anyway, the island is host to an ancient temple (The Tua Pekong Temple), which is used as a turtle sanctuary, although I’m not sure if it’s used deliberately for this purpose, or if it’s just over-run with turtles and inhabitants have decided it’s better to just let them have it than flush them out.
The first Kusu link I stumbled across, is the Japan Fairy Tale festival, which seems like such a nice wee event, but then becomes a frustrating bugger when you discover there’s only three sites in the world devoted to it, and none of them have actually got very much information on.
