Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar (February 27, 1912 - March 10, 1999), popularly known in Maharashtra, India and in the larger Marathi community as "Kusumagraj", was a poet, playwright and writer.
He was born in Pune, and was known by his nick name Tatyasaheb, meaning respected big brother.
Kusumagraj's contribution to Marathi literature, particularly poetry and plays, marks a milestone in the jounrney of Marathi literature.

 Rane forgets Kusumagraj memorial
He was speaking on the occasion of the announcement of the ``Janasthan Award'' given every alternate year by the Kusumagraj Pratisthan to Marathi authors.
The award is to be conferred on veteran Marathi litterateur Vyankatesh Madgulkar at a function in Nashik on October 31.
He said that it had caused embarrassment to the Pratisthan as the impression created was that the Government had given the funds but the Pratisthan had failed to do anything.

The mortal remains of India's leading revolutionary poet V V Shirwadkar alias 'Kusumagraj' were consigned to the sacred flames on the banks of the holy river Godavari in Nashik today at 11.35 hrs.
Kusumagraj's body was laid on a truck decorated with flowers, with president of the Kusumagraj Pratistan Dharmadhikari, former MP Vasant Pawar and others riding alongside.
Earlier, the city's intellectuals converged at Kusumagraj's house to have a glimpse of the poet.

Winner of Commonwealth Prize for his English anthology titled Jejuri, Kolatkar was also conferred with Kusumagraj award for his contribution to Marathi literature by Marathwada Sahitya Parishad.
