The Rann of Kutch is a seasonally marshy region located in the Thar Desert biogeographic province in Gujarat state of northwestern India and the Sind province of Pakistan.
Kutch is the name of the district wherein it is situated.
Kutch is virtually an island, bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Gulf of Kutch, which separates Kutch from the Kathiawar peninsula, to the south and southeast, and by the Rann of Kutch, a huge wetland that forms the northern and eastern part of the region.

Ahmedabad, Aug 01: The Physical Research Laborataory (PRL), a premier institution of the Department of Space, Government of India, will be conducting elaborate tests on the meteorites which fell in Kutch region of Gujarat last night, a scientist said on Tuesday.
The metorites will be brought to PRL here this evening where tests will first be conducted to determine the origin of the meteorite, its radioactivity, its age, chemical composition and other features, the scientist said.
Pieces of meteorites have been recovered in Kutch even as there are reports of people sighting these objects in Jamnagar and Rajkot district.
