		The district lies among Gorakhpur in the east, Basti in the west, Siddharth Nagar in the north and Ambedkar Nagar in the south..
		According to the census of 1991 the district has a population 1162138 persons of which 605533 are males and 556505 females of which 81718 persons, resided in urban areas and 1080420 in rural areas.
		The Ghaghra forms the southern boundary of the district, from its entry opposite the sacred town of Ayodhya,where for a short distance it is usually known as the Saryu,as far as Belghat on the border of Gorakhpur.

		In remembrance, the Ogaki Tourism Association and Youth Groups, and the 'Oku no hosomichi' Haiku Association, hold the Basho Festival annually in early April, to let the citizens enjoy the experience of sailing, just like Matsuo Basho, down the Suimon river.
		The Nakasendo Akasakajuku Festival is held in November, and features processions that recreate the inns of the Akasaka district that lined the old Nakasendo Road in the last days of the Bakufu regime, as well as stalls selling local artifacts.
		The Yama no Ko is a festival celebrated in honor of local mountain gods, and is held in the northwest part of Ogaki city, and in the foothills along the old Nakasendo Road.

		According to a press statement, Mizutani-- president of a company based in Kuwana city of Mie prefecture, Japan-- has decided to fund the construction of 100 school buildings, to be known as ‘Mizutani Schools’ for the benefit of children in the poor communities in South Asia.
		He decided to help construct schools in South Asia in memory of his younger brother, Masakazu Mizutani, who died at the age of 25 while attempting to climb Putha hiunchuli (Dhaulagiri range, west Nepal), in 1973.

		The advisory board selected Hiratsuka on the basis of information from Professor Ted Kuwana, who was aquainted with Professor Shizuo Fujiwara, science director of Kanagawa University there.
		Both Eutin and Hiratsuka are active communities that are enthusiastic about their relationships with Lawrence and expect to generate a variety of exchanges.
		I had hoped to show it on my program, but with that cancelled, it will need some help from the school district in Hiratsuka to find a suitable school here willing to create a similar exchange.
