Kwiki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kwiki is wiki software written in Perl by Ingy döt Net, and extended by many others.
In general, although the Kwiki source code is much shorter than many other wiki implementations, for some it is more difficult to interpret because of its use of nonstandard Perl idioms introduced by Spiffy.
In addition, since the Kwiki developers regard comments as necessary only for those who cannot read or write code, the Kwiki source is more intimidating to some [1] [2].

 [cgi-wiki-dev] Convergence with Kwiki?
In many discussions in IRC ingy mentioned his Kwiki will not be a "product" wiki, but a framework to build multiple sets of (possibly incompatible) kwiki distrubutions (Kwiki calls them "flavors") using different sets of templates and plugins, with vastly different functionality.
Kwiki is being build as many different wiki clones now, one of them is openforge (OF) - a perl-based sourceforge clone.
Kwiki is expected to be a wiki for this project hosting system.

 Kwiki reviews -
Kwiki is extremely easy to install and use without knowing much about Perl or Kwiki itself.
Kwiki, and the Spoon framework on which it was built, provide a very powerful and flexible way to write plugins to modify and extend the behavior and feature-set of Kwiki.
Kwiki probably has the cleanest Perl Wiki architecture, so if it can attract a critical mass of plugin and skin developers, it may soon surpass existing Perl WikiClones in functionality.

Whilst there are many Wiki packages included in the Debian GNU/Linux distribution I've always had a soft spot for KWiki due to its simplicity, Perl nature, and low requirements.
The Debian KWiki package comes with a script which sets up a new wiki instance, allowing you to run multiple installations upon a single host.
That is a really good article on Kwiki, although a lot more could have been added to it.

I should also point out that if you have a lib directory then kwiki -install Kwiki::Mumble will download the latest Kwiki::Mumble from CPAN and install it in your lib directory.
I will probably add a kwiki -upgrade that will bring everything up to date, no matter what version you are on.

Installing Kwiki on a server you are not an admin of is more complicated but doable.
All in all, Kwiki is easy to install and customize, but its formatting rules are lacking.
My problem with it is that it seems to fall between the chairs of the competition: it isn't as powerful and extensible as TWiki; it isn't as easy to set up as Kwiki, PmWiki, or MediaWiki; and its syntax is not as rich as MediaWiki's (lacking mathematical notation, for example).

You don't need a config.yaml, but since I needed a few special formatting rules and had to override CGI::Kwiki::Formatter to do this, I just put a config.yaml in the article directory.
Kwiki will read its config file from the directory its run.
