  Kwun Tong Line (MTR) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Construction of the Kwun Tong Line was approved in November of 1975, and four years later, on 1 October 1979 service commenced on the Kwun Tong Line.
A year after on 12 December 1980 the first harbour crossing was made by an MTR train as the Kwun Tong Line was extended even further to Chater station, present-day Central station.
When the Eastern Harbour Crossing was completed on 6 August 1989, the Kwun Tong Line was extended to Quarry Bay station, and on 1 October of the same year, Lam Tin station was opened.

K-Stock cars currently only service the Kwun Tong Line, the configuration of a K-Stock train is A-C-B-C-B-B-C-A. All K-Stock cars are 22000mm in length, 3118mm in width, 3698mm in height.
Originally these stocks are to be assigned on the Tseung Kwan O Line, but maintainance problems mean that they are now all assigned to Kwun Tong Line instead.

The MTR or Mass Transit Railway (HKSE:0066) is the metro system of Hong Kong.
In 1973 the government slightly reduced the size of the system, which stopped the construction of the East Kowloon Line, and renamed it the Modified Initial System.
The Hong Kong government also set up the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) to replace the Mass Transport Provisional Authority to supervise the whole construction, and on 1 October 1979 the MTR was partially opened, with trains running from Shek Kip Mei to Kwun Tong.
