Kyburg's own methods are worth studying, implementing, and applying (I have done all three), but they do not seem to lead to major advances over what is already being done.
This is the jewel in Kyburg's philosophical crown; it is the legacy of a life lived with probabilistic honesty.
Only Kyburg can give a good explanation of how one comes to adopt some universal generalizations and not others, i.e., how one theory or set of axioms is chosen over another.

Measurement Theoreticians Come Up Short!   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
Kyburg's paper on errors of measurement begins by bemoaning the lack of attention paid to error theory, a lack considered amazing because "it is only the existence of error that allows us to believe in measurement" (p.
Kyburg asserts that scientific generalization depends on statistical theories of errors of measurement.
This close connection between measure theory and error theory is Kuhn's (1961) point, though Kuhn is not cited by Kyburg, and the point is not developed.

Certain Doubts » Denials of Closure?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
With respect to Kyburg, ‘Probability and Randomness’ is the first paper spelling out both epistemological probability (outside of the last chapter of his PhD thesis, that is), and the first statement of the lottery paradox.
It was written before Kyburg (1961) and delivered at the 1959 meeting of ASL and the 1960 meeting of the International Congress for the History and Philosophy of Science.
Jon, although there is no doubt that Kyburg articulated the lottery paradox in his writings, as well the main normative reasons to deny certain forms of closure, but there are earlier antecedents to this idea.

One essay in particular that caught my attention was "Bets and Beliefs" (from 1968) by Henry Kyburg, in which he argues against the subjective account of probability then being pushed then by Jeffrey and others (which is now perhaps the leading account, at least in philosophical circles).
I haven't yet gone to Google Scholar to find out what the responses to this paper are like, but it seems to me that all his complaints can be addressed by slightly more sophisticated subjective probabilities.
Thus, Kyburg's objections no longer seem so problematic, and we see that subjective probability really can do quite a lot, especially when we remember that subjective probabilities are assigned to everything - that is, to frequencies and objective probabilities (if we think they exist), and not just to individual draws from urns.

Direct Inference and the Problem of Induction
For four decades Henry Kyburg has stood almost solus contra mundum in his insistence that randomness is epistemic, that it is a primitive notion rather than something to be defined in terms of probability, and that in conjunction with statistical data it yields probabilities without "fair sampling" constraints.
On Kyburg's view, X should assign a degree of credence equal to.9 to the hypothesis that Petersen is a Protestant.
Braithwaite's approach is criticized in Kyburg, "R. Braithwaite on Probability and Induction," British Journal for the Philosophy of Science 35 (1958-9): 203-20, particularly pp.

Six kilometers (4 miles) from Winterthur, Schloss Kyburg is the largest castle in eastern Switzerland, dating from the Middle Ages.
The stronghold was the ancestral home of the counts of Kyburg until 1264, when the Hapsburgs took over.
These counts were local rulers and of little interest to visitors today, as their history has long been overshadowed by the more powerful and more famous Hapsburg dynasty.

Oxford University Press: Science and Reason: Henry E. Kyburg
In this work Henry Kyburg presents his views on a wide range of philosophical problems associated with the study and practice of science and mathematics.
The main structure of the book consists of a presentation of Kyburg's notions of epistemic probability and its use in the scientific enterprise i.e., the effort to modify previously adopted beliefs in the light of experience.
Intended for cognitive scientists and people in artificial intelligence as well as for technically oriented philosophers, the book also provides a general overview of the philosophy of science for the non-philosopher by one of the leading authorities in the field.
