Kyle Grooms' love for comedy caused him to abandon his career as Art Director for a Hispanic television network and perform comedy full time.
Kyle Grooms is determined to be one of the strongest comedic voices of our generations.

As the title implies, each episode of "Straight Plan" finds four straight men (comedians Billy Merritt, Curtis Gwinn, Kyle Grooms and Rob Riggle) working with a gay man to help him pass as straight for a day.
Kyle dives into a dumpster to find new furnishings for Jonathan's apartment.
Billy and Kyle are the two funny standouts on "Straight Plan," although neither is a match for Carson from "Queer Eye." Actually, I kept fantasizing that Carson would burst onto the scene to stop the gay man from compromising his fashion values.

Often left home alone, Grooms would listen to Richard Pryor comedy albums and repeat the jokes from the albums to his friends, who later voted him “Most Humorous” in his eighth grade yearbook.
An avid graffiti artist, Grooms first decided to attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale to pursue a career in commercial art.

Stand-up comedian Kyle Grooms, seen regularly on cable and broadcast TV, will perform in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition, at 7 p.m.
As a child, Grooms listened to Richard Pryor records and repeated his jokes at school and Cub Scouts.
In 1995, Grooms began doing stand-up comedy in Miami night clubs while still doing a day job as an art director for a Spanish TV network.

The show is replacing Queer Eye's "Fab Five" with a group of straight comedians, the "Flab Four" (Curtis Gwinn, Billy Merritt, Kyle Grooms and Rob Riggle).
Merritt is the "appearance guy" because he said he "looks the most like Carson [Daly]," and Grooms provides general information, such as the "walk and talk" of the straight man.
Though the show may seem to focus on a touchy issue, the cast members and participants said it's one that viewers shouldn't be mad at.

They get lost driving through the streets of New York in their shiny new Dodge RAM 3500 pickup truck, but manage to find their first subject, an effete fashion salesman named Jonathan.
Kyle and Rob teach him the art of straight male one-upmanship in a bowling alley and, with the help of an acting coach, how to butch it up by lowering his voice and slowing his walk.
Jonathan (or as they like to call him, "J-dog") also gets a remedial lesson in meat (and various other animal parts) to prepare him for the true test -- passing himself off as a straight worker in a meatpacking plant.
