		Kyle W. Jones (1955-) is a professional musician, mathematician and former Maine state politician, notable for his influence on the state's energy industry.
		In 1995, Jones released a recording of his composition Meltdown, on the C.D. of that name, in honor of his happenstance visit to Three Mile Island, on the night of March 28, 1979.
		First elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 1994, Jones became Chair of the Joint Select Committee on Utilities and Energy.

		Kyle Jones, a geophysics major who will be a senior in the spring, said he plans to leave Nov. 25 to travel to Antarctica to help professors in the Earth and Environmental Science Department with research on the volcano Mount Erebus.
		Jones is going because of his passion for Erebus and his good job working with data on the volcano as a research assistant, he said.
		Kyle said the biggest danger in the research is the small chance of being hit by molten rocks small eruptions throw out of the crater.
