Recorded in London and Melbourne with Stock Aitken and Waterman in the spring of '88, Kylie's eponymous debut album was released in July of that year and entered both the UK and Australian charts at No.2.
In the UK Kylie became the youngest female and first Australian artist ever to top the album chart, reaching the summit on two separate occasions and remaining there for a staggering 8 weeks in total.
The album scored Top 10 placings throughout Europe and Asia and achieved Gold status in the US where 'The Loco-motion' reached No.3 on the Billboard chart.

Kylie Minogue (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kylie Minogue is the title of a 1994 album by Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
On the album cover, Minogue attempted to present herself as a serious artist, rather than the vampish sex kitten she had begun to personify.
North America was a moderate market: her albums were continuously released in the States, but moreso in Canada.

Kylie Minogue was born in Melbourne, Australia, to an Australian father, Ron Minogue, and a Welsh-born mother, Carol Jones who had immigrated as a child from Maesteg, Wales in 1955 to Townsville, Queensland.
Kylie is the eldest of three children; her sister Dannii Minogue (born Danielle Jane Minogue) is also a pop singer, and her brother, Brendan, works as a news cameraman in Australia.
Kylie was overshadowed by her younger sister until achieving success in 1986 with her role in the soap opera Neighbours.

Kylie Minogue curls her feet under her and sits three-quarters cross-legged on the ornate antique chair in the comfortable roominess of a plush suite in the Sir Stamford hotel in Double Bay, an inner city haven for the successful.
This Kylie exudes a charisma, a womanliness, a sexuality, an awareness and a togetherness that is as overwhelming as it is charming and extraordinary.
That album marked the rebirth of a Kylie the world would have to come to accept and a Minogue that Kylie would have to grow into: it was a chance, a mixture of soaring big ballads and trademark dance beats kicked up a level from the kiddy-pop and techno that dominated her early years.

BBC - Pop Review - Kylie Minogue, Body Language
The only problem Kylie has is she's female, and not aggresive or out spoken like Madonna, and for this reason, and this reason only Kylie does not get the credit she deserves from the male dominated music critics world, all they can see is the pretty woman who makes music for women and gay men.
Kylie is changing her style as the years run by, so fans were bound to get a shock with this album.
Kylie is clearly triing to create an album to beat her last one but for me there are not enough tunes with instant appeal.

Kylie Minogue: Body Language - PopMatters Music Review
Minogue's 2001 album Fever was a long-overdue breakthrough in North America; for a decade, she had reigned as one of the top pop acts in the world, but had been unable to follow up her early Stateside success as a Stock, Aitken, and Waterman product back in 1988.
On Kylie's new album Body Language, she makes the move from disco to the more synthetic strains of synth pop, obviously inspired by the likes of Gary Numan and Giogio Moroder, not to mention the aforementioned 2002 remix.
Kylie and her producers never overdo things, always taking the high road, aware of her limitations as a singer.

Her first album, Kylie, a collection of dance songs, reached number one on the British albums chart and became the year's highest selling album.
Her follow up album, Enjoy Yourself (1989) was a success in the United Kingdom and Australia, and contained several hit singles, but it failed in the United States, and Minogue was dropped by her American record company Geffen Records.
The album downplayed the disco style and Minogue said she was inspired by 1980s artists such as Scritti Politti, Human League and Prince, blending their styles with elements of hip hop.

In 1994, Kylie Minogue (the album) was deemed a commercial success (albeit not a huge success, the album did as well as Light Years in the UK and was a convincing start).
This album is more Kylie than anything she has ever done - it is the only album where she has cowritten every track (all the lyrics) and the only album where she has completely written some of the songs.
The album is by no means perfect, but the good tracks are very, very, very good, and justify Kylie's praise for this period in her music career.

I never realised that the breezy On A Night Like This was a Kylie track until now, though it's probably a small mercy I missed out on her cover of Celebration the first time around.
And hidden away at the end of disc two is probably her most unusual release to date: Where the Wild Roses Grow is a warped, breathy ballad with fellow Australian Nick Cave muttering darkly that "all beauty must die" before dashing her head in with a rock.

Kylie Minogue - Fever : album review
It was a fabulous collection of Stock-Aitkein-Waterman cheesiness (the likes of which Steps happily attempt to emulate today) including the monster hits I Should Be So Lucky and Locomotion and, since then, her musical career has remained more or less phenomenally successful.
The album release was preceded by one of 2001's best singles, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, which predicatably beat off lesser "competition" (this time in the shape of the over-accessoried Posh Spice) to leap into the UK singles chart at Number 1.
It would be difficult to pinpoint one duff track on this record, but the more obvious candidates for singles are towards the front of the album - just like her first two records, in fact - especially the rip-roaring frolic that is Love At First Sight.
