The Kinki Nippon Tetsudo (Kinki Japan Railway) or Kintetsu is a standard gauge private railway serving Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya.
These 1993 built trains work on the island of Kyushu, from the city of Hakata down the west coast to Kagoshima, 317km.
The 0 class was constructed into the 1980's, with the older units being retired as they wore out due to the stress of continuous high speed running in excess of 200kmh.

Tetsudo-in was composed of five Control Divisions: Hokkaido, Tobu, Chubu, Seibu, and Kyushu.
The first president of Tetsudo-in was Shimpei Goto, who had been president of the South Manchuria Railroad for about three years.
The Shinkansen line was extended westward to Okayama in 1972 and then to Hakata, the largest city in Kyushu, in 1975.

 Sanyo Main Line at AllExperts
Originally the main stretch of line between Kobe Station and Shimonoseki Station was constructed by the private company Sanyo Tetsudo (Sanyo Railway) between the 1880s and 1901.
Sanyo Main Line was connected to Kyushu by ferry from Shimonoseki and Shimonosekiko Station (Port Shimonoseki).

With the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen, the section of the Kagoshima Main Line between Yatsushiro and Sendai has been ceded to a private railway company, Hisatsu Orenji Tetsudo.
As such, JR Kyushu has revamped the services on this line, with refurbished trains for the Isaburo, Shinpei and Hayato no Kaze services.
