TRAINING BENEFITS: The LAV AGTS is a state-of-the art simulation device for training gunners and vehicle commanders of the LAV-25.
The LAV AGTS will provide precision gunnery training for LAV-25 crews and platoons.
The training system uses a series of exercises modeled after the LAV-25 gunnery tables presented on a desert data base to teach basic skills needed to become proficient gunners and vehicle commanders.

The 8x8 was already well known after was adopted by the United States Marine Corps for several different roles, the basic LAV-25 infantry fighting vehicle, LAV(AT) with TOW missiles, LAV(AD) air defence with 20mm Gatling gun and missiles, LAV(R) recovery, LAV(C) command and LAV(L) logistics carrier, as well as the LAV(M) mortar carrier.
Italeri have had their kit No 259 of the baseline LAV-25 around for some time, and this version like the earlier No 269 LAV-25 TOW and No 274 LAV Air Defence uses two sprues from that kit for the basic hull and suspension parts.
This last-named vehicle is very much an international effort, its M252 81mm mortar is based on the British L16 series with Canadian components and it also carries the 7.62mm M240B machine gun which is the Belgian FN MAG (which is replacing the M60)

if I'm not mistaken the Stryker is slightly larger than the LAV 25, but the LAV 25 has the full Delco turrent takes up a lot of it's internal space, which is why it carries only 4 scouts, while the Stryker has 9 fully equipped infantrymen.
I see a Bradley and a Stryker and several dismounts.

Mechanically related to the bulkier Bison, the Coyote is easily distinguished by the LAV-25 type Delco turret with its 25mm M242 Chain Gun.
The basic vehicle is a direct descendant of the 8x8 LAV-25 (above) built by GM Canada for the US Marines – 758 vehicles – between 1982 and 1985.
The result is probably the most sophisticated military surveillance vehicle in the world, and the CF is justifiably proud of the Coyote.

The LAV-25 Automated Mortar System is an example of the " can do " spirit of both the LAV-25 Series as well as the United States Marine Corps.
However the units equipped with the vehicle are especially liked as they are capable of using the excellent Swedish Strix round (see Page 87 of the 2nd Edition Heavy Weapons Guide).
This is used to shell targets and move away before counter-artillery fire can be brought to bear on them, the Marine Corps used them with great success in the Gulf for night operations due to the vehicles infrared night vision gear.
