Topic: LCV Virus

List of computer viruses - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When a new virus appears, the rush begins to identify and understand it as well as develop appropriate counter-measures to stop its propagation.
By the time it is identified which names denote the same virus the different names have been used enough to stay around.
Another source of ambiguity in names is that sometimes a virus initially identified as a completely new virus is found to be a variation of an earlier known virus, in which cases it is often renamed.

A rhesus LCV isolate (208-95) was derived from a B-cell lymphoma in a simian immunodeficiency virus-infected rhesus macaque.
Thus, the EBNA-2 polymorphism defines the presence of two different rhesus LCV types, and both rhesus LCV types were found to be prevalent in the rhesus monkey population at the New England Regional Primate Research Center.
The existence of two rhesus LCV types suggests that the selective pressure for the evolution of two LCV types is shared by human and nonhuman primate hosts.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the cause of heterophile-positive infectious mononucleosis.
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human tumor virus that has probably shaped the human immune system in its long co-evolution with man. Its persistent infection is immune controlled by strong cell-mediated adaptive immunity mainly via T cells.
Our understanding of how virus initiates infection of either a B cell or an epithelial cell is incomplete, but several of the key virus and cell proteins involved in B cell infection have been identified.

Sowing is yet to commence in Tamil Nadu but in the northern and central parts of the country, the growers seem to have evinced more interest for the Bt cotton crop to tackle the heliothis menace.
Even while preliminary reports from the North zone reveal that the crop performance has been good this far, cotton scientists say the Bt cotton raised in the northern belt has been found susceptible to the leaf curl virus (LCV), though in a 'limited way' in about 5 to 10 per cent of the area.
Having toured the entire cotton belt in the north and central zone, he said 'Udang Super' Bt cotton was sown in vast areas of Punjab.

HIV, the virus that leads to acquired immune deficiency syndrome or AIDS, remains a global epidemic with world health officials estimating 42 million people now infected with the virus.
While analysis of the serum from the volunteers is ongoing, Dr. Kennedy reported that tests to date show the vaccine did induce measurable T-cell responses and antibody responses to multiple strains of HIV.  The antibodies from the participants' sera were sent to Duke University and tested against HIV in cultures.
The LCV case resolved on its own, without the need for treatment.  LCV is a known side-effect of several approved vaccines, including influenza, tetanus, pertussis and measles.

 Erythema elevatum diutinum
—Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED), a chronic fibrosing form of leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV), is a disorder characterized by yellow or brown papules, plaques, or nodules that are distributed symmetrically over the extensor surfaces of the extremities.
These findings include fibrin, neutrophils, and neutrophil fragments in and around the swollen walls of the small vessels in the upper and mid-dermis [1].
A later biopsy specimen was diagnostic of EED and demonstrated a nodular, mixed-cell infiltrate of macrophages with numerous neutrophils, nuclear dust, and leukocytoclastic vasculitis.

He asserted that certain varieties as `Sikanderpur Raja' and `Begum', reported to have come from Pakistan, were highly susceptible to LCV.

"The CC chemokine receptor CCR5 is an important coreceptor for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and there is a major thrust to develop anti-CCR5-based therapies for HIV-1," explained Dr. Annaline Nansen and colleagues at the University of Copenhagen.
Surprisingly, antigen-specific antiviral T-cell activity was actually enhanced in CCR5(-/-) animals exposed to lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCV), they found.
Murine T lymphocytes lacking CCR5 expression had no problems mounting an inflammatory response to cerebral LCV infections or in eradicating viral reservoirs in other organs, study data showed.
