  Instructables LED Throwies
Developed by the Graffiti Research Lab a division of the Eyebeam RandD OpenLab, LED Throwies are an inexpensive way to add color to any ferromagnetic surface in your neighborhood.
A Throwie consists of a lithium battery, a 10mm diffused LED and a rare-earth magnet taped together.
how much current is going thru those leds with the 3 v supply?, i know the use of a resistor complicates things a bit (being such an easy design) i think throwies might survive longer with a current limiting resistor...

Light-emitting diode - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
LEDs can be operated on AC voltage, but it will only light with positive voltage, causing the LED to turn on and off at the frequency of the AC supply (60 times each second (60 cycle flicker) in North America).
Some LED units contain two diodes, one in each direction (that is, two diodes in inverse parallel) and each a different color (typically red and green), allowing two-color operation or a range of apparent colors to be created by altering the percentage of time the voltage is in each polarity.
The LED chip emits blue light, part of which is converted to yellow by the Ce The single crystal form of Ce :YAG is actually considered a scintillator rather than a phosphor.

Led Zeppelin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Led Zeppelin was a British rock band, who were pivotal in the development of hard rock and heavy metal, and became one of the most popular and influential bands of all time.
Led Zeppelin was chosen for their name (the word "lead" was deliberately misspelled to prevent people pronouncing it as in "lead singer").
In 1974, Led Zeppelin launched their own record label called Swan Song, named after one of only five songs that the band never recorded for commercial release (the track was re-tooled as "Midnight Moonlight" by Page's post-Zeppelin band The Firm on their first album).

 Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)
LEDs must be connected the correct way round, the diagram may be labelled a or + for anode and k or - for cathode (yes, it really is k, not c, for cathode!).
LEDs of all colours are available in uncoloured packages which may be diffused (milky) or clear (often described as 'water clear').
LED displays are packages of many LEDs arranged in a pattern, the most familiar pattern being the 7-segment displays for showing numbers (digits 0-9).

Super Bright LEDs - LED Info
The unit of measure commonly used to describe LED intensity is the millicandela (mcd), 1000 millicandela equals 1 candela.
To use leds for 12 Volt applications you must simply connect a resistor in series with the led or leds.
Use a 1/8th watt or larger resistor soldered to the anode of the led and connect the +12 to the resistor.

 LED - a Whatis.com definition - see also: light-emitting diode
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits visible light when an electric current passes through it.
Some LEDs emit infrared (IR) energy (830 nanometers or longer); such a device is known as an infrared-emitting diode (IRED).
In this respect, the LED or IRED resembles most other diode types, but there are important differences.

What is a Light Emitting Diode?
The negative side of an LED lead is indicated in two ways: 1) by the flat side of the bulb, and 2) by the shorter of the two wires extending from the LED.
LED's that emit different colors are made of different semi-conductor materials, and require different energies to light them.
The energy (E) of the light emitted by an LED is related to the electric charge (q) of an electron and the voltage (V) required to light the LED by the expression: E = qV Joules.

Led Zeppelin's debut album remains a classic and its showpiece "Dazed and Confused" is the song I have listened to most often in my life; my favorite part is Bonzo's cascades on the drum as Jimmy Page ends his guitar solo.
Led Zeppelin is one of the exception, the first album is not their best but still so remarkable and unforgetable.

 Building an LED caselight
LEDs, of any size or shape, are quite easy things to work with once you know a few basic things about them, and about electricity.
White LEDs have similar ratings to blue ones, because they actually are blue ones - they have a phosphor layer over a blue LED die, which absorbs most of the blue and emits a range of other frequencies to give you a broad-spectrum white result.
These LEDs aren't bright enough to make it worth putting them in a box and trying to light anything up with them, but they work in basically the same way as their more expensive high intensity brethren, and veroboard's cheap enough that there's no need to even bother removing them when you've finished fooling around.

LEDs are different from ordinary light bulbs because they do not have a filament to break or burn out.
In the simplest terms, an LED is made with two different kinds of semiconductor material: one type that has too many free electrons roaming around inside, and another that doesn't have enough.
One wire goes to the top layer of this (much like the wire in a red LED does) and is usually placed at one corner, and the other wire goes to the opposite corner that is stripped of everything except a conducting layer a few tens to perhaps a few hundred atoms thick.

 Led Zeppelin Reviews
As it turned out, Led Zeppelin's infamous 1969 debut album was indicative of the decade to come--one that, fittingly, this band helped define with its decadently exaggerated, bowdlerized blues-rock.
Riff rock had been what Jimmy Page's former band, the Yardbirds, were all about, and on Led Zeppelin's second album, released, like its predecessor, in 1969, the inventive guitarist demonstrated that he'd indeed learned his lessons well.
Also known as the "rune" album or Zoso because of the medieval symbols adorning the inner sleeve, Led Zeppelin's fourth album, released in 1971, turned them from mere superstars into giant behemoths of the rock world.

In Jimmy Page Led Zeppelin had a man with a vision as well as a guitarist that could shred the wallpaper off your walls one second and be as gentle as a snowflake the next.
The album closes with one of the darkest songs Led zeppelin ever recorded 'When the Levee Breaks', a blues as only Led Zeppelin can play, with Robert Plant's vocals and harmonica play and Jimmy Page's guitar to the fore as the others lay down a rock solid spine to the song.
This was Led Zeppelin's finest hour, and therefore rightly holds the claim to #1 album of all time.
