  Geographic Location representation in DNS
If there is no LOC record for that name, all A records associated with the name MAY be checked for network (or subnet) LOC records using the "searching by network or subnet" algorithm.
Reverse the octets, suffix IN-ADDR.ARPA, and query for PTR and A records.
Other values indicate that the entire record should be ignored to allow for future implementations of the RR to be later created.

This is because those records are handled by the zone parent DNS servers (for example, the.com DNS servers if your domain is example.com), which typically cache those records for 48 hours.
For example, this record is used to implement the Sender Policy Framework specification.
Other types of records simply provide information (for example, a LOC record gives the physical location of a host), or experimental data (for example, a WKS record gives a list of servers offering some well known service such as HTTP or POP3 for a domain).

If you lock a locally saved authority record, you lose any changes you have made because locking causes a new copy of a master record (that is, the master record at the time of the lock) to be automatically downloaded.

Show Music on Record is a revised electronic version of the definitive reference source by Jack Raymond, first published in 1982.
The database -- to be updated periodically -- provides discographic information for commercially-released show music recordings starting with those captured on early cylinders in the late 19th century and continuing through recent compact disc productions of the early 21st century.
The database currently reflects information on recordings released up to the Spring of 2003 and will be updated periodically.

Additionally, because we have to do this after the record fix is complete, this needs to be done in the same event as the record fix.

To design WWW caching hierarchies, server mirroring arrangements, or the location of new ISP peering points it is often necessary to consider the geographic spread of the Internet usage base (as a simple example, the Internet sees a daily usage peak that begins when the US East Coast starts their workday).
The DNS LOC (location) resource record is designed to make this data available.
This is also useful for testing newly installed LOC records to check their validity (and reachability).

In the simplest case, the desired whois record is found by a single query to one whois server.
NetGeo currently does not use DNS LOC queries by default because their low success rate does not justify the expense of the three or more DNS lookups typically needed to rule out the existence of a valid DNS LOC record.
When parsing RIPE or APNIC records it is often necessary to iterate over steps (1) through (4), searching for a recognizable address in several blocks of address strings found in the record.
