 Ordovician Rocks from La Pampa Province
The Ordovician rocks from La Pampa (central Argentina) crop out in the south of the province, approximately between 36° 30’ and 39° 00’ S. In particular, two groups of rocks are distinguished: the crystalline basement of the south-eastern region and the sedimentary and metamorphic limestones from the central and south-western region.

The province of La Pampa is bounded by the provinces of Mendoza, San Luis and Córdoba, on the north; the province of Buenos Aires, on the east; the province Río Negro, on the south; and the provinces of Neuquén and Mendoza, on the west.
Most of the southwestern portion of La Pampa’s territory is located in the Patagonia region, bearing its specific characteristics; in the east, a smaller, although the most productive and populated area, belongs to the Pampean region, and has the definite features of this region.
Although there are no definite drainage systems, the eastern sector of La Pampa, the most productive and populated, records from 550 to 750 mm of annual rainfalls, which allows the practice of dryland farming, and makes it suitable for cattle fattening.

On Monday, April 4, 2005, "a mutilated cat was found on an estancia" in rural La Pampa province, Argentina, about 640 kilometers southwest of Buenos Aires, the national capital.
According to Argentinian ufologist Raul Oscar Chaves, La Pampa has been plagued with animal mutilations for the past month.
"A while ago, we learned that ten mutilated cows had been discovered here in the province," Raul reported, "The most startling impact is that crop circles were found in the pasture, and all of the cows appeared in one circle, with their heads pointing towards the center of the circle."
